Long-tailed Silky Flycatcher

La Trinidad de Dota

A slender, elegant bird of middle and high elevations, this female long-tailed silky flycatcher is used to passing showers of mountain rain. True to their name, these birds resemble cardinals in that they have long tails, skinny bodies, and crowns. Seeing one up close on a clean perch isn't a regular occurrence in Costa Rica, so even though I was getting soaked in the process, I made sure to get as many frames as I could before the bird flew off.
