California white sage grows at the base of a weathered jumping cholla trunk, making a perfect pit stop spot for a cactus wren in the Sonoran Desert of southern Arizona. These wrens are much larger than their more northern counterparts on the east and west coasts, but they are every bit as vocal and active. Chances are, if you visit the desert southwest and find a conspicuous perch, there's a good chance a cactus wren will sit on it!
