L'Amour Fou
St. Bride's, Newfoundland and Labrador
A pair of northern gannets touch beaks after one of the two (it's impossible to tell which is the female and which is the male by sight alone) arrives back at the nest sight. The setting sun behind them at Cape St. Mary's Ecological Reserve provides some pleasing evening backlight to the scene, which I photographed from a separate cliff across a hundred-yard=deep chasm. Between us was nothing but airspace and a sheer drop into the sea below.
