Fire and Rain

Tres de Junio

The frequent rain showers of the cloud forest don't stand a chance at extinguishing the colors of the fiery-throated hummingbird, an endemic to Costa Rica and Panama with a limited range in the Talamanca Mountains. Males and females display the same iridescent plumage that lights up with electric blues, yellows, greens, and oranges when the birds turn their heads at just the right angle. For bird photographers, it's one of the greatest color shows in the Americas!
